5 Ways To Play: Dark Souls 3

I have over 600 hours in Dark Souls 3 on Steam, and while I know that’s not a huge amount by comparison to some of the great Dark Souls content creators, I’d like to think it somewhat qualifies me to share some of my wisdom and experience with you all in regard to how you can make some interesting builds and keep the game fresh for you.

With that out of the way, Lets get into the builds!

#1: The Tank

I love the fashion on this guy, so stylish.

This build is designed to be as forgiving to new players while being as viable as possible for solo play. It gives you a HUGE health pool, Regenerative abilities, Good defences and even ranged capabilities.

  • Starting Class: Warrior
  • Soul Level: 125
  • Stat Focus: Vigor & Vitality
  • Mainhand: Raw Greataxe+10
  • Offhand: Ethereal Oak Shield+5, Arbalest+10
  • Rings: Life Ring+3, Ring of Favor+3, Ring of Steel Protection+3, Sun Princess Ring
  • Armor: Creighton’s Steel Mask, Millwood Knight Armor, Northern Gloves, Exile Leggings
  • Spells: None

#2: The Brawler

DUCK! Actually, they’re crows and they’re quite sensitive about it.

This Build just wants to punch things hard and often. Fantastic for those who want to throw caution to the wind and pummel the schnitzel out of your enemies. Throwback to my girl Steelheart Ellie from Dark Souls 2 for the Fashion.

  • Starting Class: Knight
  • Soul Level: 125
  • Stat Focus: Strength & Dexterity
  • Mainhand: Skilled Caestus+10
  • Offhand: Pyromancy Flame+10
  • Rings: Pontiff’s Right Eye, Ring of Favor+3, Pontiff’s Left Eye, Wolf Ring+3
  • Armor: Black Witch Veil, Chain Armor, Conjurator Manchettes, Leather Boots
  • Spells: Carthus Beacon.

#3: The Flame Priestess

Is it just me or is she looking down, directly at the camera? Spooky 👀

This Build makes use of the fact that the Pyromancy Warmth only requires faith and the miracle Bountiful Sunlight doesn’t scale with Spellbuff. What those both effectively mean is you can actually use the White Hair Talisman super effectively to Regenerate Health!

  • Starting Class: Pyromancer
  • Soul Level: 125
  • Stat Focus: Dexterity & Faith
  • Mainhand: White Hair Talisman+5
  • Offhand: Pyromancer’s Parting Flame+10
  • Rings: Sun Princess Ring, Ring of Favor+3, Witch Ring, Dusk Crown Ring
  • Armor: Pyromancer Crown, Desert Pyromancer Garb, Firekeeper Gloves, Sunless Leggings
  • Spells: Warmth, Bountiful Sunlight, Chaos Storm, Divine Pillars of Light

#4: The Corvian

Christmas is a wonderful time at Firelink Shrine

This Build has it all when it comes to status effects, you can cause bleeding, freeze your foes and you even have access to the best source of poison in the game!

  • Starting Class: Assassin
  • Soul Level: 125
  • Stat Focus: Dexterity & Luck
  • Mainhand: Hollow Corvian Scythe+10
  • Offhand: Storyteller’s Staff+10
  • Rings: Fleshbite Ring+1, Bloodbite Ring+1, Poisonbite Ring+1, Chillbite Ring
  • Armor: Billed Mask, Cornyx’s Garb, Assassin Gloves, Follower Boots
  • Spells: Frozen Weapon, Snap Freeze.

#5: The Melfian Sorcerer

Ooo! Fiyah!

You really think I’d finish this list without mentioning Sorcerers? Gotta represent. So the idea behind this Build is to combine Sorcery and Pyromancy in a Throwback to Dark Souls 2 and Master Carhillion of the Fold.

  • Starting Class: Sorcerer
  • Soul Level: 125
  • Stat Focus: Intelligence & Attunement
  • Mainhand: Court Sorcerer’s Staff+10
  • Offhand: Pyromancy Flame+10
  • Rings: Darkmoon Ring, Sage’s Ring+2, Magic Stoneplate Ring+2, Flame Stoneplate Ring+2
  • Armor: Sorcerer Hood, Sorcerer Robe, Conjurator Manchettes, Heavy Boots
  • Spells: Crystal Homing Soulmass, Dark Edge, Great Chaos Fire Orb, Farron Flashsword, Crystal Soul Spear, Fire Whip, Profaned Flame.
