Hello friends! We’re nearing the end of the 30-day challenge now, it’s been a fun series to do and taught me a few things! Today I’m gonna talk about a game series that’s also taught me a lot and brought me a ton of laughs.
Here’s a link back to the master list of questions and blog links:30 Day Video Game Challenge
Day 28 – What is your favourite video game series?
Yeah, Resident Evil and Monster Hunter are probably up there. Even Pokemon comes pretty close. But all-time favourite? Souls. Every time. I started this blog with Dark Souls 2 and I also entered the series there. This game is one I hold very close to my heart. The series as a whole is full of trials, memesters and trickery. Many an hour of shenanigans and tryharding were had.
Dark Souls is where I found my real love of magic in video games. It felt like so much more than flashy effects and mana bars. The lore and magic of dark souls is incredibly deeply ingrained in me now. My friend sold it to me with the mention of Hexes as a form of dark magic where you give up part of yourself to become stronger. That struck a chord with me and has come to become symbolic of taking risks to better yourself; like any form of dark magic, it has to be used in moderation or you’ll lose yourself to the dark.
I’ll talk about this trail of thought deeper in another post one day, as I could probably ramble on for hours about my personal philosophy.
Anywho, I’d love to hear what games you guys really love, tell my why you love them in the comments! Cheers for reading!
